Former GeoEye chief executive Matt O’Connell has joined London-based space technology venture capital fund Seraphim Capital. According to Seraphim, the enterprise value of GeoEye, a high-resolution Earth imagery firm, rose from $30m to $1.3bn under O’Connell’s tenure before being sold to Digital Globe. In 2015/16 he also served as chief executive of OneWeb, the start-up developing a 650 satellite constellation aimed at providing low-cost internet connectivity around the world. He also currently serves as a member of the board at Spaceflight Industries, a secondary payloads launch organiser based in Seattle.
Seraphim invests in the space technology ecosystem through its $90m Seraphim Space Fund venture capital vehicle and its soon-to-be-launched Seraphim Space Camp Accelerator.
